Catechesis for June 25 2006 2nd Sunday after Trinity
Begin with Luther’s Morning Prayer
Books of the Bible (Moses wrote the Pentateuch- first 5 books)
Review What the Hearers Owe Their Pastors.
The Lord has commanded that those who preach the Gospel should receive their living from the Gospel. I Cor 9:14
Anyone who receives instruction in the word must share all good things with his instructor. Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Gal 6:6-7
We ask you brothers, to respect those who work hard among you, who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other.
I Thess. 5:12-13
Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you. Heb. 13:17
New Lesson This is the Trinity season. It is the non-festival part of the church year. The color on the altar is green because this is considered ordinary time – the time of growth. It is the longest part of the church year. This Sunday is the 2nd Sunday after Trinity. What do you think next Sunday will be called? Today is also the 476th anniversary of the presentation of the Augsburg Confession. We are still confessing that today. Explain the Lutheran Confessions.
Memorize: Explain the Table of Duties & vocation
Let each his lesson learn with care, and all the household well shall fare.

Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s. Matt 22:21
Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men; whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. I Peter 2:13-14
Explain, read and enact the Gospel lesson: Luke 14: 16-24 (The Jews were the original ones invited into the kingdom but when they rejected, Jesus went out into the highways and byways and found the crippled, the blind and the lame -- that’s us) Notice that it is God who seeks us and finds us…I believe that I cannot by my own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ my Lord or come to him…
