Jesse Tree December 6

The symbol for today is a ladder which represents the patriarch Jacob. I can not say Jacob's Ladder without hearing the song we sang in Jr. Choir -- many years ago!! "We are climbing Jacob's ladder". I wonder now about that song considering it is the angels which descend FIRST, just as it is God who comes to us in love so that we can believe! The action in salvation is always from God to us. So the ladder is Jesus who comes from heaven to earth to then carry us back to heaven with Him! At Bethel, Jacob is promised again that through him all the nations will be blessed -- it is that Blessing which we celebrate on Christmas Day.

The everlasting Son Incarnate deigns to be;
Himself a servant's form puts on To set His people free.
