Jesse Tree December 3

Our next stop in the lineage of Jesus is Noah and the Ark. On the 3rd of December we add the ark to the Jesse Tree and are reminded that there is punishment for sin. The entire world, except for 8 people, was destroyed because of sin. The water of the flood, supported the ark and so saved Noah and his family. We are reminded that the waters of Baptism save us also. During Advent, we look for the coming of the Savior in whose Name we will be baptized. We all come to the font (8 sided like the 8 who were saved in the flood) and are united with the death and resurrection of He-Who-Is-Coming.

On this day, we sing

Baptized into Thy name most holy, O Father, Son and Holy Ghost,
I claim a place, though weak and lowly, Among Thy seed, Thy chosen host.
Buried with Christ and dead to sin, Thy Spirit now shall live within.
