For Unto Us a Grandson is Born!
The Chaplain and I were blessed today with the birth of our 6th grandchild, Thomas August. He was born on January 1st and is a lovely beginning to the new year. Rejoice with us!!!> Here is a picture of Thomas when he was less than 2 hours old. Mommy Danylle had been in the hospital for 14 hours and was eagerly awaiting his arrival.
Here is his first picture with Daddy Theo our oldest son. The nurses and fathers were all wearing Happy New Year tiaras!

His name, Thomas August, is a family name on my side. My dear brother Tom, faithful pastor in the LCMS, died early in the Spring of 2007. It was to honor his memory that my son Theo and wife Danylle named their son Thomas August.

Big Looper hug to you and congrats to the mom and dad.
Love the name. My great grandfather was Erik August but our son only got the Erik part.

I add my congratulations to the list. I hope mom and son are doing well and that Grandma gets her fill of holding this precious little grandson. :-)

Nice baby, but I came for the cookies. I also had a great-aunt Gert, and I make springerle too! My mom made them with her mom, Lena, and with Tante Sophie, in the days before electric mixers (beat eggs for 10 minutes). I started making them when I found House on the Hill and bought snazzy molds from them. My girls may well carry on the tradition, as they both say they are turning into me, and they LIKE it! Best wishes from Connecticut.
