It is hard to see the green on the green but the symbol for the 11th of December is a little Jesse tree for the father of King David, the grandson of Boaz and Ruth. Jesse is pictured as a tree because of this quote from the prophet Isaiah "A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. " Isaiah 11:1 The Branch that will come from Jesse, of course, is the Savior Jesus.

I thought you might like to see how the tree is looking so far -- almost half filled with symbols tracing Christ from the beginning of Genesis.
Behold, a Branch is growing Of loveliest form and graceAs prophets sung foreknowing; it springs from Jesse's raceAnd bears one little Flow'r In midst of coldest winter,At deepest midnight hour.
